FERPA Compliance Statement
EduNest is designed to operate under the School Official Exception defined in 34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1) of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Under this provision, EduNest functions as an extension of CCSD — acting on the district's behalf with no independent authority over student education records.
School Official Exception Criteria Met
- Performs an institutional service or function for which the district would otherwise use its own employees
- Access limited to student education records in which the district has a legitimate educational interest
- Does not re-disclose student records to unauthorized parties
- Subject to the same conditions governing access as district employees
FERPA Commitments
- No access to student education records without a fully executed District Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
- Student records processed only as directed by the district — never for EduNest's own purposes
- All student data deleted within 30 days of contract termination
- No transfer of student records to third parties without district authorization
- Full audit trail of all data access and processing events
- Breach notification to district within 72 hours of discovery
COPPA Compliance Statement

COPPA Compliance Commitments
- No personal information collected directly from children under 13
- Platform access requires adult authentication (parents/guardians 18+ or school employees)
- No behavioral advertising or geolocation tracking of minors
- No persistent identifiers used to track children across websites or services
- Student data (when accessed under a DPA) processed only to provide educational services
- Parents maintain the right to review and delete information associated with their account
CIPA Compliance Statement
EduNest fully supports the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requirements for K-12 technology vendors. The platform serves an exclusively educational purpose and operates within a closed, school-verified network.
CIPA Compliance Commitments
- Platform content is limited to educational materials: lesson summaries, academic records, wellness communications, transportation, and nutrition
- Role-based permissions ensure users only access content appropriate to their role (parent, teacher, administrator, nurse)
- No user-generated public content — all communications are moderated within school-verified networks
- No external internet access or links to unapproved third-party content
- No inappropriate, obscene, or harmful content on the platform
- Activity logs maintained for administrative review and compliance audits
